Denmark renews support for BD’s green efforts

Denmark wants to provide help for a "greener Bangladesh" in close cooperation with the country's public and private sectors, and encourage investment in its green growth, reports UNB.

"Denmark is proud to be able to share its solutions and inspire companies and citizens in Bangladesh to invest in green growth," said Danish Ambassador in Dhaka Mikael Hemniti Winther.

In an Op-Ed published in the 'Energy & Power' anniversary issue, the Ambassador said Denmark will continue to work for a greener Bangladesh in close cooperation with both public and private sectors of the country.

He said no single technology can ever do the trick all by itself - no matter how innovative and effective it is.

"Danish companies know that. Instead, they successfully complement each other. As a result, Denmark has become a global leader in producing integrated end-to-end solutions to match the growing needs internationally," reads the Op-Ed.

Denmark is well known for its green transition and knowledge about green energy solutions, according to the Op-Ed, which has also been shared by the Embassy on its website.

They are on a pathway towards becoming fossil fuel-free in 2050 as the first country in the world.

The ambitious goal will be reached by increasing energy efficiency and resource optimisation; by expanding the share of renewable energy from sources such as wind and biomass; and by driving the development of an intelligent energy system capable of managing the fluctuations of renewable energy.

Denmark is working methodically to apply experience and knowledge into a Bangladeshi context, the Op-Ed reads.

Denmark has grown to become a global leader in the development of new sustainable technologies and solutions.

During the same period, the Danish economy has grown by almost 80 per cent without increasing gross energy consumption, according to Statistics Denmark, the national bank of statistics in the Scandinavian country.
