Barisal bus-strike called off

Barisal-Patuakhali Bus and Minibus Owners' Association called their indefinite strike off on 38 routes of six districts under Barisal division following a fruitful meeting with the local administration on Thursday night.

Kawser Hossain Shipon, general secretary of the association, said they decided to withdraw the strike at about 10:00pm as the local administration and police assured them of taking action against the human hauler workers who assaulted their leader.

Earlier, the association enforced the strike for an indefinite period on Thursday after its president Nazrul Islam Khan was assaulted by some human hauler workers on Barisal-Patuakhali road in Dapdapia area on Monday.

Thousands of passengers suffered much following the bus strike that lasted for about 16 hours; according to UNB.
