Police arrest eight for torturing housewife
Police have arrested eight people for torturing a housewife mercilessly tying up with a tree at Gobindraganj village in Damurhuda upazila of Chuadanga district over theft charge.

The arrestees were identified as Aiyub Ali, 52, son of Ahal Ali Sheikh, Mahirun Nesha, 45, wife of Aiyub Ali, her son Raju alias Ukil, 20, Bachchu, 35, son of Babul, Hasan, 20, son of Shekendar Ali, Shaheb Ali, 20, son of Noyesh Ali, Shetu, 20, son of Babul, Foysal, 20, son of Kazirul, residents of the village, reports UNB.

Locals said two cattle, owned by Sirajul Islam of the village, were stolen on Thursday night. Sirajul suspected that Torol Ali of the village might steal the cattle.

The family members of Sirajul tied up Kajoli Begum, wife of Torol Ali, with a tree as they did not find Torol. They later tortured Kajoli mercilessly. At one stage, she lost her sense.

They also vandalized the house of Torol.

A picture of the incident has become viral on social networking site Facebook on Sunday.

Following the incident, police visited the spot on Monday and assured Kajoli that they would take legal action against the torturers.

Later, Kajoli filed a case with Damurhuda Model Police Station accusing 9 people.
