Online media will be protected: Inu

Information Minister Hasanul Haq Inu Sunday said the government will protect the online media considering its importance in free information flow.

"The government will protect the online media....the recently enacted policy will act as 'guideline to this end," he said, reports BSS citing said a ministry release.

The minister said it when leaders of the Bangladesh Online Media Association (BOMA) were exchanging views with the minister at his secretariat office.

Stressing on maintaining media sanctity, Inu said "online news portals must have to maintain sanctity of the mass media and at the same time they have to take strict position against falsehood, rumour and instigation.

The Information Minister also greeted all the participants including the BOMA leaders for their active role in promulgating mass media policy.

BOMA's senior vice-presidents Dr Abdur Rahim Khan, Advocate M Kamal Hossen, M Masud and Sajjad Hossen Aposh, Joint secretary general Rafiqul Islam Kajal, organizing secretary M Lutfur Rahman, Office secretary Delwar Hossen, publicity secretary Khan M Nakib, Assistant Publicity secretary Afroza Begum Shirin, Executive member Kursia ParvinJui and Kamruzzaman Himu, among others, participated in the view exchange meeting.
