Rabbe sparkles at Football for Friendship in Russia

The fifth season of Football for Friendship 2017 Programme implemented by Gazprom, the official partner of FIFA and the 2018 FIFA World Cup, concluded successfully in St. Petersburg, according to a press release.

The programme, which took place from June 27 to July 2 brought together young football players and young journalists aged 12 years old from 64 countries. The young footballers were united in eight International Teams of Friendship, and were accompanied by young journalists who were selected to report on the Football for Friendship events.

Bangladesh joined the programme for the first time and was represented by Golam Rabbe and Daanial Ansari who were selected as the young footballer and young journalist respectively.

Rabbe, a striker from Narayanganj, was shortlisted as the F4F Young Ambassador from over 200 kids by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF).

He played in the Cyan Team of Friendship, alongside young players from Uruguay, Ghana, Macedonia, Netherlands, Tajkistan, Kyrgyzstan and Iraq.

A sixth grade student of Sohidnagar High School in Narayanganj, Rabbe worked really hard to be a part of the programme.

About his experience in Russia, Rabbe said, "It was awesome, I was amazed to be a part of the programme and play besides footballers from several other countries. I saw the power of football and how it can make people happy."

It was no different for Daanial Ansari, who was part of the young journalist's team, which covered all key events on equal terms with the adult reporters. The 7th grade student from Australian International School, Dhaka, was shortlisted as the F4F Young Journalist from Bangladesh. In St. Petersburg, Daanial anchored the Football for Friendship video digest.
