Top ten traded companies Monday captured more than 24 per cent turnover value on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) while Regent Textile topped the chart.

The total transaction on the DSE stood at Tk 5.41 billion on the day, which was 14 per cent higher than the previous day while Tk 1.10 billion came from the block transaction.

Regent Textile, Nurani Dyeing, Orion Pharma, Paramount Textile, Argon Denims, LankaBangla Finance, BDCOM Online, Beximco Pharma, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation and IFAD Autos were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE.

Of them, share price of seven companies advanced up to 6.60 per cent, two faced correction while one remained unchanged on the day over the previous session.

According to statistics available with the DSE, some 7.05 million Regent Textile shares were traded, generating a turnover of nearly Tk 202 million, which was 3.74 per cent of the day's total transaction value.

The textile maker's share price hovered between Tk 28 and Tk 29.30, before closing at Tk 28.90 on the day, registering an increase of 3.58 per cent over the previous day.

Regent Textile, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2015, disbursed 10 per cent cash and 5.0 per cent stock dividend for the 18 months period that ended on June 30, 2016.

The company has also reported (un-audited) third quarter earnings per share (EPS) of Tk 0.30 for January-March period of 2017 as against Tk 0.27 for the same quarter in the previous year.

In nine months for July, 2016-March, 2017, EPS was Tk 0.83 as against Tk 0.68 for July, 2015-March, 2016.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.15 billion and authorised capital is Tk 1.50 billion, while the total number of securities is 115.50 million.

Sponsor-directors own 54.54 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 7.76 per cent, and general public 37.70 per cent as on May 31, 2017, the DSE data shows.

Recently listed Nurani Dyeing followed next, with shares of Tk 177 million changing hands, capturing 3.27 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share closed at Tk 22.60, advancing 6.60 per cent over the previous session. It was also the day's second highest gainer.

Orion Pharma emerged as third with shares of Tk 149 million changing hands. It was 2.76 per cent of the total turnover value. The company's share price rose 2.79 per cent to close at Tk 51.60 each.

Paramount Textile notched the fourth spot, with shares of Tk 132 million changing hands, contributing 2.44 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share price closed at Tk 37.60, losing 1.05 per cent.

Argon Denims featured a turnover of Tk 130 million which was 2.40 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price closed at Tk 37.30, remaining unchanged over the previous session.

The turnover of LankaBangla was Tk 129 million, capturing 2.38 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price closed at Tk 52.10, advancing 0.58 per cent.

BDCOM Online featured a turnover of Tk 119 million, which was 2.20 per cent of the day's total value. The IT company's share price rose 2.74 per cent to close at Tk 45 each.

The turnover of Beximco Pharma was Tk 93 million, capturing 172 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share price closed at Tk 112.70, shedding 0.61 per cent.

Bangladesh Shipping Corporation featured a turnover of Tk 91 million, which was 1.68 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price rose 3.91 per cent to close at Tk 53.10.

IFAD Autos was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of Tk 90 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 134.30 each, advancing 1.51 per cent over the previous session.
