IFAD Autos leads DSE turnover chart

IFAD Autos Limited, a unit of IFAD Group, dominated the premier bourse's transaction chart Wednesday while top 10 traded companies captured nearly 33 per cent of the day's total turnover.

A crucial indicator of the market, turnover on the day stood at Tk 6.84 billion on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) which was more than 21 per cent higher than the previous session.

IFAD Autos, Bangladesh Shipping Corporation (BSC), Paramount Textile, Doreen Power, LankaBangla Finance, BDCOM Online, Evince Textile, MJL BD, United Power and National Feed Mills were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE board.

Of these, six companies faced correction up to 1.77 per cent while four companies' share price rose up to 7.38 per cent.

According to the statistics available with the DSE, some 5.70 million IFAD Autos shares were traded on the day - generating a turnover of Tk 761 million which was more than 11 per cent of the day's total turnover value.

The automobile dealer's share price hovered between Tk 125.20 and Tk 136.50, before closing at Tk 135.20 on Wednesday, registering an increase of 7.38 per cent over the previous day. It was also the day's fourth highest gainer.

IFAD Autos, which was listed with the Dhaka bourse in February 2015, disbursed 13 per cent cash dividend to general shareholders excluding the sponsors/directors and 4.0 per cent stock dividend for all shareholders for the year ended on June 30, 2016.

The company's third quarter (Q3) earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 2.01 for the period of January-March, 2017 as against Tk 0.96 for the same period a year ago.

From July, 2016 to March, 2017, EPS of the company stood at Tk 5.05 as against Tk 3.61 for the corresponding period last term.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.55 billion and authorised capital is Tk 2.0 billion while its total number of securities is 155.48 million.

The sponsor-directors own 62.77 per cent stake in the IFAD Autos while institutional investors own 19.88 per cent and general public 17.35 per cent as on April 30, 2017, according to the DSE data.

BSC followed next, featuring a turnover of Tk 233 million which was 3.41 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The state-run company's share price closed at Tk 610.50 - thereby advancing 3.53 per cent compared to the previous day.

Paramount Textile emerged as the third with shares of Tk 195 million changing hands, capturing 2.85 per cent of the total turnover. The company's share price fell 1.25 per cent to close at Tk 31.50 per share.

The turnover of Doreen Power was Tk 192 million, which was 2.81 per cent of the day's total value. The power generation company's share closed at Tk 135.30 - thereby losing 1.74 per cent.

LankaBangla notched the fifth spot with shares of Tk 178 million changing hands. It was 2.60 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share price fell 1.77 per cent to close at Tk 49.80.

BDCOM Online featured a turnover of Tk 145 million, capturing 2.12 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price closed at Tk 38 each, soaring 6.74 per cent.

The turnover of Evince Textile was Tk 135 million, which was 1.97 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price fell 1.27 per cent to close at Tk 23.20.

MJL BD featured a turnover of Tk 130 million, capturing 1.90 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price advanced 2.29 per cent to close at Tk 116.10.

The turnover of United Power was Tk 121 million, which was 1.77 per cent of the total turnover value. The company's share price closed at Tk 165.90 - thereby losing 0.89 per cent.

National Feed Mills was also included in the top turnover list with shares of Tk 118 million changing hands, contributing 1.72 per cent to the day's total value. The company's share price fell 1.43 per cent to close at Tk 27.40 each.
