Okra cultivation widens in Bogra
BOGRA Apr 15: About 2,000 hectares of land in the district have been brought under the farming of Okra cultivation this season.
In this connection, the district's agriculture departments and some local NGOs have provided quality seeds and other necessary inputs to the growers at a cheap rate.
The local DAE office also arranged training programmes on cultivation of Okra with the use of latest technologies to make the farming process successful, said sub-assistant agriculture officer Shah Alam.
Farmers bring more lands under the farming of the popular and profitable vegetable every year, he added.
Per kg of Okra is being sold at Tk 40 to Tk 50 in the local kitchen markets.
"I have cultivated Okra on over 0.12 acre of land spending Tk 2,300", said farmer Abdul Zobbar of Dhunot upazila. He said he has started harvesting the produce from the last month and is expecting a good profit this season.
