Executed Mufti Hannan buried in Gopalganj
Harkat-ul-Jihad (Huji) chief Mufti Abdul Hannan, hanged on Wednesday night, was buried at his village home in Gopalganj on Thursday.
Along with Mufti Hannan, his two associates --Delwar Alias Ripon and Sharif Shahedul Alam alias Bipul who were also hanged on Wednesday night were buried at their village home early Thursday.
Delwar was buried at his village home in Chandpur district while Sharif was buried at Moulvibazar.
According to UNB report, Hannan was buried at his family graveyard after a namaj-e-janaza at Hiron Bala Girls' Madrasha and Orphanage premises around 5:45 am.
Mufti Hannan's brother Munshi Aliuzzaman conducted the namaj-e-janaza.
An ambulance carrying the body of the executed Huji Chief arrived there around 5:20 am amid tight security.
Kotalipara Upazila Nirbahi Officer Zilal Hossain, executive magistrate Mahbub Jamil and officer-in-charge of Kotali Para Police Station Quamrul Faruk were present during the burial.
Earlier, on Wednesday night, the Huji chief and his two associates were hanged over the grenade attack on ex-British envoy Anwar Choudhury in Sylhet in 2004.
Of them, Mufti Hannan and Bipul were executed at Kashimpur Central Jail at 10:01pm while Ripon at Sylhet Central Jail at the same time.
