Two killed in Rangpur road accidents

Two persons were killed in separate road accidents at different places of Rangpur on Thursday, police sources said.

A woman identified as Maleka Begum, 42, wife of Ataur Rahman of village Bisnupur under Kawnia upazila in the district was killed after a truck hit her a Satmatha point in the city in the morning, said OC of Kotwali Thana ABM Zahidul Islam.

In another accident, driver of a pick-up van was killed and three others were injured when a bus and the pick-up van collided head-on at Dhaperhat point on the Rangpur-Dhaka highway under Pirganj upazila here at 8:30 am.

"The deceased driver was identified as Shimul Mian, 23, son of Abdul Gafur of village Satgram Thakurchar under Sadar upazila of Bogra district," said In-charge of Barodorga Highway Police Camp Sergeant Shahidul Islam. 

Police recovered the bodies and sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital morgue for conducting autopsy.

Two separate cases were filed in these connections with the respective police station, police said, reports BSS. - IH
