DSE Brokers Association of Bangladesh will conduct marketing to encourage the companies having good fundamentals for going public, said Ahmad Rashid, the newly-elected president of the association.
As part of its marketing, the association leaders will go to different business conglomerates and encourage them to offload shares of their companies in the capital market.
Mr Rashid said they will also maintain proper coordination with the premier bourse to boost their marketing, required for bringing such companies to the market.
"Development of the capital market will be our target. Depth of the market will increase, if the companies having good fundamentals offload their shares," he added.
After completion of DSE's demutualisation process, DSE Brokers Association emerged as a platform of brokers in 2015.
On Sunday, 15 director-members of the association were elected. On Wednesday, Mr Rashid, managing director of Rashid Investment Services, was elected its president.
Mostaque Ahmed Sadeque, managing director of Investment Promotion Services, and Khugesta Nur-E-Naharin, managing director of Modern Securities, were elected senior vice-president and vice-president respectively.
Mr Rashid, also a former vice-president of the premier bourse, said the association will work as a 'self-regulatory' body for the sake of its members and investors as well.
"We will try to maintain proper coordination with the securities regulator and the premier bourse board."
He also stressed on holding different training and awareness increasing programmes for officials of the brokerage firms.
"Besides, programmes will be arranged to raise awareness of the investors."
The president of the brokers' association also emphasized the necessity of making the OTC (over-the-counter) market more vibrant.
"We will sit with the securities regulator and the stock exchange to find out the ways of accelerating operation of the OTC market," he added.
