Standing committee demands action for delays in renovation of hotels
The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Civil Aviation and Tourism Ministry Tuesday recommended taking punitive actions as per the rules against those responsible for the delay in completion of renovation work of Sonargaon Hotel and Rupashi Bangla Hotel in Dhaka.
The recommendation was made at the 21st meeting of the committee at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Muhammad Faruq Khan in the chair.
Committee Members Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Prof. M. Ali Ashraf, Qamrul Ashraf Khan and Sabiha Nahar Begum attended the meeting, said an official release.
The meeting was told that renovation of the 6th, 7th and 8th floors of Sonargaon Hotel will end by December.
The meeting held discussions on 'Civil Aviation Authority Bill, 2016' and three-year route planning adopted by Biman Bangladesh Airlines.
After detailed discussion, the committee sought specific amendments to 'Civil Aviation Authority Bill, 2016' from the officials of civil aviation authority, ministry and legislative section of parliament secretariat.
Senior officials concerned were present at the meeting, according to BSS. - IH
