Pregnant woman, 3 others die in accident at DMCH

A six-month pregnant woman, three others died in an accident in front of police box at Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH).
Several others were also injured in the accident that took place around 9am on Saturday, report agencies.
The accident occurred when an ambulance speeding towards the emergency wing lost control and hit a rickshaw and several other pedestrians.
Amena Begum Surjee, the six-month pregnant women, and her 7-year-old boy Sajeeb were injured in the accident. Later she succumbed to her injuries at DMCH.
Her husband, Jakir Hossain, had been undergoing treatment at DMCH since 25 August this year. Jakir was injured in another accident in Chittagong.
DMCH police camp's Sub-inspector Bachchu Mia said that after the accident Amena was taken to the operation theater of DMCH. Her unborn child has also died after the incident, he said quoting doctors.
The police official also said an unidentified man, around 45 years old, died immediately.
Another injured 7-year-old boy, 'Sakib' died during taking treatment at the emergency department where doctors declared.
A woman, identified as Gulenur Begum, also succumbed to her injuries at the hospital. Police have detained the ambulance's driver. –RH
