India extends token-less visa scheme for women
India has extended the scheme that allowed Bangladeshi women travellers to deposit tourist visa applications without prior appointment dates or e-token.
From October 15, women travellers with confirmed air, rail or bus tickets can deposit their tourist visa applications without prior appointment, said a press release issued by the Indian High Commission in Dhaka on Thursday.
The decision came after the pilot scheme went successful.
The women applicants can also deposit tourist visa applications on behalf of the immediate family members accompanying them to India from 10:00am to 1:00pm at Indian Visa Application Centre, Sector-7, Road 18, House 56, Uttara, Dhaka.
Women applicants and their family members seeking visas will need to have confirmed journey tickets with them when they apply (to be shown at the time of entry), according to the media release.
India has extended the facility to Bangladeshi women and their family members to facilitate ease of securing visas and to strengthen people-to-people contacts between India and Bangladesh, said the press release.
