NAOGAON, Oct 13: Severe power outage for around seven to ten hours in a day is hampering regular activities of people across the district.
Residents of Manda, Mohadevpur, Badalgachi, Porsha and Sapahar upazilas under the district are the main sufferers. PSC and SSC candidates cannot even pay attention to their studies.
On the other hand, factories, mills and other business organisations are also in serious trouble.
Rafiqul Islam, president of district Rice Mill Owners' Association, said there are more than 1200 rice mills in the district which are completely dependent on electricity. But the production in the mills has been hampering for the last couple of weeks due to load shedding.
Director General of Palli Bidyut Regional Office, Naogaon, Enamul Haque said the demand of electricity in the district is 50 to 55 megawatts, while it gets only 30 to 35 megawatts each day from the local Power Development Board (PDB) office.
Executive engineer of the district Power Development Board Shankar Kumar Dev said there is no existence of power outage in the district.
The load shedding problem has caused due to natural disaster, technical error or poor distribution system of the Palli Bidyut authorities. They themselves have to solve the problem, Mr Dev added.
