Fresh drive against pirates
In the wake of a rise in the kidnapping of fishermen for ransom, elite force Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) has launched a drive in the Sundarbans to prevent the crime and rescue the abducted fishermen.

Members of RAB-8 Barisal, split in several teams, launched the drive in various parts of the world’s largest mangrove forest on Wednesday night, said deputy commanding officer of the RAB unit Major Adnan.

Locals said pirates belonging to ‘Jahangir Bahini’ and ‘Jonab Bahini’ looted various fishing boats and kidnapped around 50 fishermen in the Sundarbans in the last one week.

The hoodlums demanded ransom for the release of the fishermen; according to a news agency.
