
As the court sat at 10:15 am, complainant Naik Subedar Giasuddin presented allegations of mutiny against 310 BDR men. Prosecutor, 36th Battalion Commanding Officer, Lt Col Imam Siddique requested the court to take the allegations into cognisance.
The three-member court presided over by BDR Director-General Maj Gen Mainul Islam took the allegations into cognisance and ordered arrest of the accused.
Of the 310 accused, 241 are already detained in jail and 69 are working in different units. The court instructed to place the 69 accused as shown arrest and send them to jail.
The court asked to bring all the accused before the court that resumes today (Tuesday) at 10:00 am.
Two other members of the court are: Lt Col Golam Rabbani and Major Syed Hossain Tapas. Attorney General's (AG) representative Deputy AG Mohammad Suhrawardy is giving legal assistance to the special court.
The BDR mutiny took place at its Pilkhana HQs on February 25-26 last year.
The special court-5 was formed under the Bangladesh Rifles Order-1972 to try the BDR members of 36 Rifle Battalion and its affiliated units.
Earlier, on February 23, the same court started trial of mutineers from Dhaka Sector headquarters. The court was adjourned on February 24 until 9:00am on April 15 for charge framing against the accused.
