
Dr Mashiur Rahman was speaking as the chief guest at the orientation session on "Performance Audit and Information Technology" organised by Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General (OCAG) with the assistance of Canadian International Development Agency at Segunbagicha in the city Saturday, said a press release.
Comptroller and Auditor General Ahmed Ataul Hakeem, Country Director (CIDA) and Head of the Development Cooperation of Canadian High Commission Robert Beadle, CEO of Cowater David Baron, Secretaries and senior officers of the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General attended the seminar.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Mashiur said that Bangladesh needs to catch up to the rest of the world by establishing modern financial management and computer system in the public sectors and that the OCAG needs will be positioned to carry out its audits in this new environment in accordance with international standards and best practices. He appreciated the Government of Canada for funding this important project.
SCOPE is a project for capacity building of OCAG undertaken with the financial support of the Government of Canada provided through the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
A modern computer network and IT training facilities are being installed in the OCAG as a significant step forward to realising the goal of 'digital Bangladesh' in the public sector.
