Infrastructure Development Company Limited (IDCOL) has signed Participation Agreements with 8 new organisations for implementation of Solar Home System (SHS) Programme and 10 for National Domestic Biogas and Manure Programme (NDBMP), a press release said Wednesday.
At present IDCOL, through 15 Participating Organisations (POs), is implementing IDCOL's SHS programme in the un-electrified areas of the country.
So far, under the programme, about 400,000 SHS have been installed. IDCOL has a target of financing 1.0 million SHS by 2012 and inclusion of these new POs will help reach the target sooner. World Bank, Asian Development Bank, KfW, GTZ and Islamic Development Bank are currently funding this programme.
Under the NDBMP programme, IDCOL, through 22 POs, have installed 9,500 biogas plants so far. This programme has a very positive impact on the environment by preventing deforestation.
The programme also generates employment opportunities in the rural areas.
