The Election Commission (EC) will seek amendments to 'The Representation of the People's Order, 1972' (RPO) for bringing all officers and employees who will be involved in election duties under the commission during the parliamentary polls scheduled for early next year, reports BSS.

Election Commissioner Brig. Gen. (retd) M. Jabed Ali told this to journalists at his office in the city Monday.

Giving details, he said proposal would also be made keeping provision of taking necessary action instantly against field level officers and employees who will work against the commission's decision during the polls.

He said the commission is ready to hold any election at any time whether the Jatiya Sangsad exists or not. He said the commission hoped that all political parties will take part in the next general election.

In this connection, he said the election would be more credible with the participation of all political parties registered with the EC. He hoped that the next general election would be held in a free, fair and credible manner.

The election commissioner hinted that the commission may go to court to know whether the post of a parliament member is a profitable one if the election is held when the Jatiya Sangsad exists.
