CHITTAGONG, Jan 28: Western Marine Shipyard is going to build two cruise ships with facilities of a luxury hotel for a private company.

The ships will be 110 metre long and 18 metre broad to carry 1800 passengers a trip and the cost of building her will be above Tk 1.0 billion, a statement said adding that the WMS has proven its proficiency in the past by delivering numerous ice class merchant ships to its European buyers. The ship builder is going to deliver a 50M car ferry and a 4100 dwt MPC ship to its European buyer.

The WMS signed an agreement with KR Shipping Limited for building the luxurious cruise ships. WMS Limited managing director Sakhawat Hossain and KR Shipping managing director ABM Ruhul Amin Howlader signed the agreement recently, a statement said.

This is for the first time that cruise ships with all facilities of a 5-star hotel will be introduced in Dhaka-Barisal-Patuakhali routes.

The ships will be able to reach Patuakhali from Dhaka via Barisal in seven hours.
