Bangladesh Jute Mills Corporation (BJMC) clinched the Exim Bank 23rd National Women's Handball crown beating 14-time champions Bangladesh Ansar by 27-20 goals in the final at the Shaheed (Capt) M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in the city Monday, reports UNB.

This is the 2nd consecutive and the overall 7th national women's handball title for BJMC in the 23rd version of the meet.

BJMC led the first half by 12-10 goals. Shahida scored 10 and Khaleda netted six goals for the champions BJMC while Ismat Ara contributed nine and Rawshan Ara netted four goals for the runners-up Bangladesh Ansar. Shahida of BJMC was adjudged the best player of the tournament.

State Minister for Youth and Sports Mohammad Ahad Ali Sarkar, MP witnessed the day's final as chief guest and later gave away the trophies.

Managing director of the meet's sponsor Exim Bank Limited Dr Mohammad Haider Ali Miah was also present as special guest at the day's closing ceremony, chaired by Handball Federation president AKM Nurul Fazal Bulbul.

Earlier on Thursday, Dhaka DSA finished 3rd in the meet beating Naogaon DSA by 22-7 goals after leading the first half 12-2 in a place-deciding match at the same venue.

President of the Swedish Partil Cup Handball Stefan Albrechtson witnessed the third-place deciding match as chief guest and later he distributed the prizes.
