Bangladesh Chamber holds meeting with WIPO



A meeting between World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) and the Bangladesh Chamber of Industries (BCI) was held on Monday at the BCI in Dhaka. The meeting was presided over by Ranjan Chowdhury, Senior Vice-President of the BCI. The meeting was participated by Manzur Ahmed, Advisor of BCI, Prof. Dr. Towhidul Islam, Department of Law of Dhaka University, representatives of DPDT, the FBCCI, the IBFB, BAB, CIS-BCCI and WIPO representatives Liew Woon Yin and Louis Chan. The meeting discussed the institutional modernisation of the Department of Patent Design and Trademarks (DPDT) of Bangladesh. The meeting also suggested setting up of help centres for filing the application of IP registration, identifying and resolving technical, procedural and management shortcomings, printing of IP journals, mapping IP innovations from the grass-root level, building a network of innovation help centres at schools, collages, and SME clusters by National IP Development Council.
