The local administration has withdrawn the restriction on entry of tourists to Madhabkunda waterfall and eco-park in Baralekha upazila of Moulbibazar district.

Madhabkunda waterfall was closed to tourists since June 22 after a trail leading to the site caved in partially following heavy rains, reports UNB.

The waterfall was reopened to tourists from Sunday after renovation of the damaged area on emergency basis, said a press release.

Forest department and locals said stairs have been constructed in collapsed area near to Parjaton Restaurant.

Waterfall-bound roads have been repaired with sandbags, said the release signed by Sylhet Division forest officer RSM Monirul Islam.

Saiful Islam, owner of Lauachhhra Eco Cottage in Moulvibazar, said the number of tourists has started increasing after the reopening of the waterfall.

"I hope that the reopening of Madhabkunda waterfall will boost tourist flow here during Eid-ul-Azha", he said.
