BBS Cables leads turnover, gainer charts

Top ten traded companies, including four banks, captured nearly 29 per cent transaction of the premier bourse on Wednesday while recently listed BBS Cables topped the turnover and gainer charts.

Within 11 trading sessions, the newly listed BBS Cable's share price skyrocketed 'abnormally' by 12 times or Tk 116.50 each, from its issue price of Tk 10.

However, the company informed the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) that there is no 'undisclosed' price sensitive information of the company for recent unusual price hike.

The total transaction on the DSE stood at nearly Tk 8.36 billion on the day, which was 7.45 per cent higher than the previous session's turnover of Tk 7.78 billion.

BBS Cables, Uttara Bank, IFIC Bank, IFAD Autos, Pubali Bank, GrameenPhone, C&A Textiles, LankaBangla Finance, Fu-Wang Food and City Bank were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE.

Of them, share price of six companies rose up to 10 per cent, three faced mild correction while one remained unchanged on the day over the previous session.

According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 3.06 million shares of BBS Cables were traded, generating a turnover of nearly 374 million, which was 4.47 per cent of the premier bourse's total turnover value.

The company's share price hovered between Tk 115.10 and Tk 126.50, before closing at Tk 126.50 on the day, jumping 10 per cent over the previous session.

BBS Cables, which made its shares trading debut on July 31, floated 20 million ordinary shares and raised Tk 200 million from the public using the fixed price method.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.20 billion and authorised capital is Tk 3.0 billion, while the total number of securities is 120 million.

Sponsor-directors own 33.33 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 29.60 per cent, foreign investors 0.36 per cent and the general public 36.71 per cent as on July 31, 2017, the DSE data shows.

Located at Sreepur in Gazipur, BBS Cables is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to manufacture and test all types of quality cables, wires and conductors, according to the company's website.

Uttara Bank followed next, with shares of Tk 336 million changing hands, capturing 4.02 per cent of the day's total turnover. The bank's share price closed at Tk 33.80, advancing 7.64 per cent over the previous session.

IFIC Bank emerged as third with shares of Tk 320 million changing hands. It was 3.83 per cent of the total turnover value. The bank's share price fell 1.45 per cent to close at Tk 20.40 each.

IFAD Autos notched the fourth spot, with shares of Tk 257 million changing hands, which was 3.07 per cent of the total turnover. The company's share price closed at Tk 163.90, advancing 1.42 per cent.

Pubali Bank featured a turnover of Tk 230 million which was 2.75 per cent of the day's total transaction. The bank's share price jumped 9.85 per cent to close at Tk 29 each.

The turnover of GrameenPhone was Tk 209 million, capturing 2.50 per cent of the day's total value. The lone listed mobile company's share price closed at Tk 387.20, advancing 1.68 per cent over the previous day.

C&A Textiles featured a turnover of Tk 198 million, which was 2.37 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price closed at Tk 13.70, remaining unchanged over the previous session.

The turnover of LankaBangla was Tk 169 million, grabbing 2.02 per cent of the day's total turnover. The company's share price closed at Tk 54.80 each, shedding 1.79 per cent.

Fu-Wang Food featured a turnover of Tk 159 million, which was 1.90 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price rose 5.65 per cent to close at Tk 23.80 each.

City Bank was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of Tk 152 million changing hands. The bank's share price closed at Tk 43.20 each, losing 2.26 per cent over the previous session.
