Move for Indo-China flag meet after Ladakh duel

A day after stone-throwing Indian and Chinese troops fought a duel on the northern bank of Pangong Lake in Ladakh, the Chinese side proposed a flag meeting Wednesday, says an IANS report.

On Tuesday, it said, troops of China’s PLA tried to cross the Line of Actual Control near Pangong Lake.

The standoff continued for over an hour, during which soldiers on both sides were involved in stone pelting, which led to injury to troops on both sides, sources said.

This is a one-of-its-kind incident in which troops engaged in a skirmish with no weapons used, no shot fired.

Later, a standard drill in which banners are shown asking the other side to go back to the agreed point was held, and the Chinese troops retreated, says the report carried in The Statesman.

Army officials in Delhi wouldn’t comment on the incident, but wouldn’t deny either.

The development on the Ladakh front came as troops of both sides are locked in a tense standoff in Doklam, in Sikkim sector, that entered the third month Wednesday.
