Six banks among top transaction chart

Top ten traded companies, including six banks, captured nearly 26 per cent transaction of the premier bourse Sunday while recently listed BBS Cables topped the chart.

The total transaction on the DSE stood at nearly Tk 7.78 billion on the day, which was 19 per cent lower than the previous day's value of Tk 9.62 billion.

BBS Cables, IFIC Bank, Fortune Shoes, City Bank, Uttara Bank, IFAD Autos, C&A Textiles, Prime Bank, Rupali Bank, and Mercantile Bank were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE.

Of them, share price of nine companies rose up to 9.79 per cent while one faced mild correction on the day over the previous session.

According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 2.99 million shares of BBS Cables were traded, generating a turnover of nearly 334 million, which was 4.29 per cent of the premier bourse's total turnover value.

The company's share price hovered between Tk 106.90 and Tk 116.10, before closing at Tk 115 on the day, advancing 5.02 per cent over the previous session.

BBS Cables, which made its shares trading debut on July 31, floated 20 million ordinary shares and raised Tk 200 million from the public using the fixed price method.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 1.20 billion and authorised capital is Tk 3.0 billion, while the total number of securities is 120 million.

Sponsor-directors own 33.33 per cent stake in the company, while institutional investors own 29.60 per cent, foreign investors 0.36 per cent and the general public 36.71 per cent as on July 31, 2017, the DSE data shows.

Located at Sreepur in Gazipur, BBS Cables is equipped with state-of-the-art technology to manufacture and test all types of quality cables, wires and conductors, according to the company's website.

IFIC Bank followed next, with shares of Tk 300 million changing hands, capturing 3.86 per cent of the day's total turnover. The bank's share price closed at Tk 20.70, advancing 3.50 per cent over the previous session.

Fortune Shoes emerged as third with shares of Tk 226 million changing hands. It was 2.90 per cent of the total turnover value. The company's share price edged up by 0.18 per cent to close at Tk 56.60 each.

City Bank notched the fourth spot, with shares of Tk 203 million changing hands, which was 2.61 per cent of the total turnover. The bank's share price closed at Tk 44.20, advancing 0.91 per cent.

Uttara Bank featured a turnover of Tk 193 million which was 2.48 per cent of the day's total transaction. The bank's share price soared 9.79 per cent to close at Tk 31.40 each. The turnover of IFAD Autos was Tk 189 million, capturing 2.43 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price closed at Tk 161.60, advancing 1.76 per cent over the previous day.

C&A Textiles featured a turnover of Tk 163 million, which was 2.09 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price fell 2.14 per cent to close at Tk 13.70 each.

The turnover of Prime Bank was Tk 149 million, grabbing 1.91 per cent of the day's total turnover. The bank's share price closed at Tk 25.10, advancing 2.03 per cent.
