Trade ties with Canada getting bolstered: President

President Abdul Hamid said bilateral relations between Bangladesh and Canada are getting bolstered day by day.

The President also expressed his satisfaction over the existing bilateral relations between the two countries.

President Hamid made the remarks when outgoing Canadian High Commissioner in Dhaka Benoit-Pierre Lramee made a farewell call on him at Bangabhaban on Sunday. President's Press Secretary Joynal Abedin briefed reporters after the meeting, reports UNB.

The President hoped that the bilateral trade and investment relations between the two countries will further expand in the days to come.

Greeting the Canadian envoy for completing his tenure in Bangladesh successfully, the President recalled the contributions of the people and the government of Canada to Bangladesh’s Liberation War in 1971.

He said Canada is a tested friend of Bangladesh and also an important development partner.

Lramee expressed his gratitude to the President for extending cooperation to him in completing his assignment in Bangladesh, saying people-to-people connection of Canada and Bangladesh is very strong.

Secretaries concerned to the President were present.
