Govt, traders discuss today price situation during Eid

The government will discuss with the country's traders' associations and stakeholders today (Thursday) to review and devise a plan to keep prices of key essential items remain stable during Eid-ul-Azha, officials said.

The meeting will be held at the Ministry of Commerce (MoC) with commerce minister Tofail Ahmed in the chair, they added. Necessary steps would be taken to stabilize the prices of garlic, sugar, edible oil, onion, dates and grams during before and after Eid-ul-Azha.  

"We have taken initiatives to keep the prices of essential items stable throughout the year. We will sit Thursday to further analyse the present position of price and supply situation of the commodities," a senior commerce ministry official told the FE.

At present both prices and supply of various essential items in the capital city remain stable, he said, adding the situation would have to be kept under control during the festivle for the interest of the common people.
