Govt plans Tk 56.16b project to ease Ctg’s waterlogging

The government is going to implement a project involving Tk 56.16 billion to mitigate sufferings of Chittagong city residents from perennial waterlogging.

The Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC) on Wednesday approved a project at its weekly meeting at the NEC conference room on Wednesday, reports UNB.

Prime Minister and ECNEC chairperson Sheikh Hasina presided over the meeting.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Planning Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal said a total of 11 projects were approved with an overall cost of Tk 97.61 billion.

"Of the total project cost, Tk 82.67 billion will come from the national exchequer while Tk 7.03 billion from the organisations’ own funds and the rest of Tk 7.90 billion as project assistance," he said.

Of the approved 11 projects, 10 are new while one is revised one.
