DSE witnesses positive note in opening session

The broad index of Dhaka bourse touched 5900 point-mark amid choppy trading observed for more than one hour Wednesday.

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) started the session with a positive note and continued for a while.

Later, the DSE broad index DSEX lost some points and went through ups and downs due to choppy trading observed from investors.

After a flat movement of one hour, the DSEX rose 3.32 points to close at 5900 points.

The two other indices also witnessed an insignificant rise amid mixed performance showed by major sectors.

Among the major sectors, only pharmaceuticals & chemicals, fuel & power and textile displayed better performance compared to other majors sectors such as bank, financial institutions.

Most of the banks went red although these companies dominated the market in last few sessions.  

Turnover stood at above Tk 2.44 billion on the premier bourse DSE.

Of total issues traded, 164 advanced, 118 declined and 31 were unchanged.

Generation Next Fashions was on the top of turnover chart with a value of Tk 210 million followed by C & A Textile, BBS Cables, IFAD Autos and Delta Spinners.
