Bangladesh to offer special economic zone for Thai investors
Bangladesh will offer to establish a special economic zone in the country for Thai investors.

Thailand will also be requested for special duty-free access of few more Bangladeshi products to its market to narrow the existing trade deficit.

These issues, among others of mutual interests, will be raised at the fourth Joint Trade Committee (JTC) meeting that begins a city hotel on Wednesday, a Commerce Ministry senior official said Monday.

Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed will lead the Bangladesh side at the two-day meeting while his Thai counterpart Apiradi Tantraporn will head the Thai team, according to a commerce ministry release.

The ministerial meeting on Wednesday will be preceded by a secretary-level meeting where Commerce Secretary Shubhashish Bose and Director General of the Department of Trade Negotiation of Thai Commerce Ministry Boonyarit Kalayanamit will lead their respective sides.

Before the minister-level meeting, Commerce Secretary Shubhashish Bose and Thai Department of Trade Negotiations Director General Boonyarit Kalayanamit will review on Wednesday the decisions taken by the two countries so far, according to reports by UNB and BSS.
