RMG workers clash with police in Mirpur

Protesting workers of a readymade garment factory clashed with police at Mirpur-1 in Dhaka city on Monday morning 

They also vandalised some vehicles and barricaded Mirpur-1 road crippling traffic in the area. 

A clash erupted when police tried to disperse the protestors, according to a law enforcement official.

The workers of Meridian Garments hit the streets demanding their due salaries and allowances. 

 They are now protesting splitting into several groups. 

The protesters have spread from Sony cinema hall area to Mirpur Zoo road and other surrounding areas. 

Mirpur Police Station Inspector (investigation) Mizanur Rahman said they are still trying to control them. 

Traffic in the area is at a standstill and local shops have been closed.
