Bangladeshi terror suspect held in India

Indian officials have arrested a Bangladesh national suspected to be linked to the Ansarullah Bangla Team, a group inspired by al-Qaeda and banned by Bangladesh authorities.

The man identified as Abdullah was arrested on Sunday in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar district, bdnews24.com reports citing a PTI report that quoted Inspector General Asim Arun of the Anti-Terrorism Squad or ATS.

ATS officials said he was allegedly involved in recruitment, providing fake IDs and arranging safe hideouts for Bangladeshi terror recruits in India.

Citing sources in National Investigation Agency, which made the arrest, NDTV reported that he had been living in the country since 2011 and initially was based in Deoband.

He moved to Muzaffarnagar's Kutesara area last month, PTI reported quoting senior ATS officer Arun.
