Smartphone fair springs to life on the second day

The ongoing fair promoting smartphones and tabs drew large number of visitors on Friday, the second day of a three-day fair.

The 'Smartphone & Tab Expo-2017' came to life after a large number of people, especially youths, gathered the fair venue from the morning where participating companies also expressed their satisfaction over sales and customers' response.

Local and foreign smartphone companies are giving different offers such as price concessions, discounts and gift items on the occasion of the fair.

"We are giving Tk 500 concession on all of our smartphone sets along with the free initial internet data," said Sahin Hossain, a salesman of Nokia outlet at the fair.

He said the company introduced its new Nokia-3 Nokia-5 and Nokia-6, which are selling like hotcakes at the fair.

A saleswoman of WE, a local smartphone manufacturer, said that her company is giving different offers in the fairground.

"Besides price concession, we give buy one, get one offer on some of our models," she added.

Global technology giant Samsung introduced three new smartphones at the fair.

The company is giving Tk 8,000 to Tk 25,000 price concession on buying S8 and S8 plus at the fair spot.

Mohammad Asaduzzaman, head of the retail development of Edison Group, (Symphony mobile) said the company was offering 5.0 per cent discount on all of its products along with other gift items.

All the participating companies came up with different offers at the expo to attract the attention of the customers.

Customers also expressed their satisfaction over the arrangement of the expo as they thought the fair gave them the opportunity to get to know the latest products, chose from different brands under one roof along with the varied offers by the companies.

One customer was banker Riyad Hasan.

Hasan told this correspondent he was buying a Smartphone because of the price concession.

"I think it's a great opportunity for us to choose from various brands under one roof and buy with exiting offers and gift items," he added.

The fair kicked off on Thursday to sell and showcase the latest products of local and foreign companies at the Bangabandhu International Conference Centre (BICC).

State Minister for Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Junaid Ahmed Palak inaugurated the fair.

Prominent local and foreign brands such as Samsung, Huawei, Symphony, We, Oppo, Xiaomi, Sony Rangs, Asus Zenofone, Nokia, Lava, Linex, Micromax, Lenovo, DCL, Winmax, and smartphone retailer Gadget & Gadget, Dtel, Adata and AjkerDeal participated in the expo.

There is also an online quiz contest titled 'Smart Champ Quiz Contest' on the official page of the expo (, where winners can receive smartphones and different gift items.

The expo will remain open from 10 am to 8 pm and ends today (Saturday).
