Maritime ports to hoist cautionary signal 3

Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox’s Bazar, Mongla and Payra were advised to hoist local cautionary signal no. three.

The Met office issued the bulletin as a depression was intensified over Northwest Bay and adjoining Westcentral Bay and coastal Odisha, reports UNB.

It was centred at 6:00 am on Tuesday about 740 kms West-Southwest of Chittagong port, 715 kms West-Southwest of Cox’s Bazar port, 555 kms Southwest of Mongla port and 580 kms Southwest of Payra port.

It is likely to move in a West-Northwesterly direction and may cross Odisha coast near Puri by tonight.

Maximum sustained wind speed within 44 kms of the depression centre is about 40 kph rising to 50 kph in gusts/squalls.

Sea will remain moderate near the depression centre.

All fishing boats and trawlers over the North Bay and deep sea were advised to come close to the coast and proceed with caution.

They are also advised not to venture into the deep sea.
