IFAD leads transaction chart

Top 10 cos grab 15pc turnover

IFAD Autos, a unit of IFAD Group, Sunday dominated the premier bourse's transaction chart while top 10 traded companies captured nearly 35 per cent of total turnover.

Turnover, the crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 12.63 billion on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) on the day, which was more than 25 per cent higher than the previous session.

IFAD Autos, Confidence Cement, Keya Cosmetics, Doreen Power, United Power, Generation Next Fashions, Fu-Wang Food, Aftab Autos, Dragon Sweater and LankaBangla Finance were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE.

Of them, share prices of five companies advanced up to 6.66 per cent while five faced correction up to 4.84 per cent.

According to statistics available with the DSE, some 5.11 million IFAD shares were traded on the day, generating a turnover of over Tk 734 million, which was 5.80 per cent of the day's total turnover value.

The auto mobile dealer's share price hovered between Tk 139.10 and Tk 145.60, before closing at Tk 143.70 on Sunday, registering an increase of 3.46 per cent over the previous session. It was the highest close price since its share trading debut on February 5, 2015.

The company's share price traded between Tk 69.90 and Tk 145.60 in the last one year at DSE.

Recently, the company disclosed to hold a 49 per cent stake in Gulf Oil Bangladesh, a subsidiary of Gulf Oil International (UK), at an investment of US$ 1.685 million, which is expected to contribute a profit of Tk 43.6 million in the next year towards overall profitability of the company.

Confidence Cement followed next, featuring a turnover of Tk 700 million, grabbing 5.54 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share closed at Tk 153.70, soaring 6.66 per cent over the previous session. It was also the day's top gainer.

Keya Cosmetics emerged as third with shares of Tk 522 million changing hands. It was 4.13 per cent of the total turnover value. The company's share price fell 3.30 per cent to close at Tk 17.60, after witnessing sharp gain in last one month.

Doreen Power notched the fourth spot, with shares of Tk 484 million changing hands, which was 3.83 per cent of the turnover. The power generation company's share price closed at Tk 147.90, losing 0.14 per cent.

United Power featured a turnover of Tk 416 million which was 3.29 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price fell 2.0 per cent to close at Tk 186.20.

The turnover of Generation Next Fashions was Tk 380 million, capturing 3.0 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price closed at Tk 12, advancing 2.56 per cent.

Fu-Wang Food featured a turnover of Tk 314 million, which was 2.48 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price plunged 4.84 per cent to close at Tk 23.60.

The turnover of Aftab Automobiles was Tk 288 million, grabbing 2.28 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share price closed at Tk 74.30, advancing 6.14 per cent.

Dragon Sweater featured a turnover of Tk 261 million, which was 2.06 per cent of the day's total. The company's share price jumped 6.22 per cent to close at Tk 23.90.

LankaBangla was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of Tk 250 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 55.90, losing 1.41 per cent over the previous session.
