RAJSHAHI, July 16: The long term Bangabandhu Silicon City project will contribute positively to the socio-economic development of the region. This Silicon city centre will both render training and provide employment opportunity for educated young men.

The construction work of Bangabandhu Silicon City is expected to be completed by the end of 2018, informed Junaid Ahmed Palak, State Minister for Information and Communication Technology through a verified ID of the internet.

State Minister Palak further mentioned, with the construction of the Bangabandhu Silicon City, 14,000 people, mainly youngmen, will be employed there. A ten storied building will be constructed at the site of the BSC and another five-story building covering 62,000 square feet will be constructed there which will be used as IT Incubator -cum-Training Centre.

It is learnt, Bangbandhu Silicon City in the long run will resemble Silicon Valley of the US. World standard technological gadgets will be manufactured at the Bangabandhu Silicon City.

On November 24, 2014, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in a public meeting held in Rajshahi promised to construct the Silicon City in Rajshahi. The project got nod at the Executive Committee of National Economic Council (ECNEC) on December 23 last year. The project cost has been earmarked at Tk 2.82 billion (Tk 281 crore 99 lakh).

The Bangabandhu Silicon City porject is being implemented on 31.63 acres of land at Zianagar under Rajpara thana of the city and expected to be completed by the end of 2018.

The foundation stone of the project was laid on January 13, 2017 by state Minister Junaid Ahmed Palak.
