Amarnath Yatra bus crash into gorge leaves 16 dead in India
Sixteen Amarnath Yatra pilgrims were killed and 24 seriously injured as a bus carrying them to Kashmir tumbled into a deep gorge near Banihal on the Jammu--Srinagar highway on Sunday.

Police said the bus of the J&K State Road Corporation was travelling with police escort when it slipped and rolled down, reports the Statesman.

A police officer from Banihal said that the seriously injured persons were being flown by IAF helicopters to the medical college at Jammu for treatment.

Army and police personnel were engaged in the relief and rescue operations at the accident spot.
