Woman held with 11 gold bars at Benapole

Customs intelligence officials arrested a woman for carrying 11 gold bars in Benapole check post area on Saturday morning.

The arrestee has been identified as Rowshan Begum, 33, daughter of Abul Hossain, hailing from Dhaka.

Tipped off, a team of customs intelligence officers searched body of a woman, Rowshan, bearing passport no- BJ-0499219, and recovered the gold bars weighing 2.75 kilograms while she was crossing the no man's land, said deputy commissioner of Benapole Customs Intelligence Abdus Sadek, reports UNB.

The gold was being smuggled to India, said the DC.

It was subsequently handed over to Benapole Customs House.

A case has been filed with Benapole Port Police Station, added DC Sadek.
