Non-govt teachers hold rally to voice 4-point demand in Jhenidah

JHENIDAH, July 12: Teachers and employees of non-government high schools, colleges Madrasas of Jhenidah Sadar upazila formed a human chain and held a protest rally at the post office intersection of the district town on Wednesday to press home their demands of cancellation of circular of 10 per cent cut in retirement and welfare trust and issue circular of 5 per cent annual increase, Boishakh allowance and full festival allowance.

President of Jhenidah district unit and member of central committee of Bangladesh Shikkhak Samity Md. Mohiuddin attended the programme as the chief guest.

Md. Abdul Momin, Md. Ali Reza, Prodip Kumar, Md. Rezaul Islam, Shahnaz Parvin Munni, Abdul Goni, Kripa Sindhu and Kamal Hossain, among others, spoke on the occasion under the banner of Bangladesh Shikkhak Samity.

The chief guest in his speech said that when the teachers and employees are on movement demanding 5 per cent annual increase, Boishakh allowance and full festival allowance, the government has issued circular of 10 per cent cut in retirement and welfare trust. The teachers did not know where to go, he added.

Speakers threatened to go for a tougher agitation programme if the demands were not met immediately.
