JS body for technical study in hilly areas to prevent landslide

The parliamentary standing committee on environment ministry recommended Sunday conduction of technical study in the hilly areas with the help of department of environment (DoE) with a view to preventing landslide.

The committee also suggested the ministry to undertake special tree plantation programme under social afforestation in the areas where landslide took place recently.  

The suggestions came at the 35th meeting of the committee with committee chairman Hasan Mahmud in the chair. The committee discussed landslide, tree plantation and social afforestation.

The committee proposed a visit to Bangladesh Forest Industries Development Corporation (BFIDC) as it discussed the success and potential of cement bonded particle board, bamboo and rubber furniture. The committee also suggested setting up of a factory of bamboo furniture and organising seminar and workshop for the promotion of bamboo furniture.
