Top 10 cos grab 28pc transaction of DSE

Keya Cosmetics leads the chart for second day

Top ten traded companies captured more than 28 per cent transaction of the premier bourse while Keya Cosmetics topped the list for the second day in a row Sunday.

The total transaction on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) stood at Tk 11.60 billion on the day, which was 15 per cent higher than the previous day's value of Tk 10.05 billion.

Keya Cosmetics, MJL Bangladesh, Confidence Cement, C&A Textile, Regent Textile, Beximco, Fu-Wang Food, LankaBangla Finance, Saif Powertec and The Peninsula Chittagong were the most-active shares in terms of value on the DSE.

Of them, share price of eight companies advanced up to 8.58 per cent while two companies faced mild correction.

According to the statistics available with the DSE, about 44.48 million shares of Keya were traded, generating a turnover of Tk 781 million, which was 6.73 per cent of the premier bourse's total turnover value.

The company's share price hovered between Tk 16.40 and Tk 18, before closing at Tk 17.80 on the day, soaring 8.53 per cent over the previous session. It was also the day's second highest gainer.

The company's consolidated third quarter (Q3) earnings per share (EPS) stood at Tk 0.47for January- March period of 2017 as against Tk 0.51 for the same period a year ago.

In nine months for July, 2016 to March, 2017, consolidated EPS was Tk 1.22 as against Tk (0.66) for same period in the previous year.

The company, which was listed on the Dhaka bourse in 2001, distributed 18 per cent stock dividend for the year ended on June 30, 2016. In 2015, company disbursed 20 per cent stock dividend.

Sponsor-directors hold 62.77 per cent stake in the Keya Cosmetics, while institutional investors own 6.96 per cent and the general public 30.27 per cent as on May 31, 2017, the DSE data showed.

The company's paid-up capital is Tk 8.35 billion and authorised capital is Tk 10 billion while the total number of securities is 835.08 million, according to statistics from the DSE.     

MJL BD followed next, with shares of Tk 373 million changing hands, capturing 3.21 per cent of the day's total turnover. The company's share closed at Tk 124.10, advancing 1.31 per cent over the previous session.

Confidence Cement emerged as third with shares of Tk 306 million changing hands. It was 2.64 per cent of the total turnover value. The company's share price rose 3.19 per cent to close at Tk 142.40 each.

C&A Textile notched the fourth spot, with shares of Tk 289 million changing hands, which was 2.49 per cent of the turnover. The company's share price closed at Tk 12.30, gaining 6.03 per cent.

Regent Textile featured a turnover of Tk 285 million which was 2.45 per cent of the day's total transaction. The company's share price advanced 0.32 per cent to close at Tk 31.20.

The turnover of Beximco was Tk 284 million, capturing 2.44 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price closed at Tk 34.20, losing 0.58 per cent.

Fu-Wang Food featured a turnover of Tk 270 million, which was 2.32 per cent of the day's total value. The company's share price advanced 2.38 per cent to close at Tk 21.50 each.

The turnover of LankaBangla was Tk 244 million, grabbing 2.10 per cent of the day's total turnover value. The company's share price closed at Tk 56.10, losing 1.58 per cent.

Saif Powertec featured a turnover of Tk 239 million, which was 2.06 per cent of the day's total. The company's share price advanced 1.30 per cent to close at Tk 46.70.

Peninsula Chittagong was also included in the top ten turnover chart with shares of Tk 208 million changing hands. The company's share price closed at Tk 32.90, jumping 8.58 per cent over the previous session. It was also the day's highest gainer.
