Court schedules indictment hearing on July 9

A Dhaka court has scheduled the indictment hearing in a case of rape of two university students at a hotel in the capital's posh Banani neighbourhood, report agencies.

Police have pressed charges against five people, including Apan Jewellers owner's son Safat Ahmed and his two friends.

On Monday, the Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-2 accepted the charge sheet submitted by police and fixed Jul 9 for the indictment hearing.

"Investigation officer in the case and Women Support and Investigation Division inspector Ismat Ara Emi filed the charge sheet with Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court this afternoon," Anisur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police's (DMPs) crimes, information and prosecution wing, told the news agency.
