Atomexpo opens to draw global attention to nuclear power

600 cos from 62 nations join
MOSCOW, Jun 19 (BSS): Nuclear experts from 62 countries are participating in a global exposition here to draw global attention to use of nuclear power as a source of clean energy.

The Ninth Atomexpo 2017 began on Monday at the Gostiny Dvor Exhibition Centre in the Russian capital city where 5,000 participants representing over 600 companies along with 200 journalists will share their experiences and opinions on nuclear power and clean energy.

The expo will conclude on June 21 with some recommendations for adopting nuclear as the basis of future carbon-free energy production.

Russia's state atomic energy body ROSATOM, a publicly-owned corporation, organised the Atomexpo themed "Nuclear Technology: Safety, Ecology, Sustainability."

The programmes for three-day exposition include panel discussions, roundtables, presentations of new projects and an extensive exhibition with participant from Russian and foreign enterprises representing the nuclear and associated industries.

On the sidelines of the exposition, 210 experts from different countries will participate in 16 roundtable discussions on various aspects of nuclear power.

First deputy chief of the Presidential Executive Office of the Russian Federation and chairman of ROSATOM Supervisory Board Sergey Kirienko addressed the opening ceremony of the exhibition in presence of top officials and executives of different government institutions and international organisations.

Meanwhile, representatives of more than 600 companies from 62 countries are participating in the IX International Atomexpo-2017 Forum. Marking the event, 16 roundtables will be held with 210 experts scheduled to make speeches.
