Intra-regional trade of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation or SAARC dropped further in 2016, according to the latest statistics.

It showed that SAARC intra-regional trade stood at $40.32 billion in the past year while the value was $45.81 billion in 2015.

Data generated from the International Trade Centre’s Trade Map also revealed that intra-regional trade in SAARC was $49.35 billion in 2014 which is highest in a single year.  

SAARC is a regional grouping of eight countries- Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The ratio of intra-regional trade of SAARC with the global trade stood at 5.04 in the past year.
