The prices of most of the shares on both bourses witnessed a positive trend in early trading Monday amid volatility as investors were on cautious stance ahead of Eid festival.

Following the previous day’s mild correction, the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened slightly higher amid thin participation of investors.

Within first 30 minutes of trading, the key index of the country’s prime bourse advanced 4.36 points while the Selective Category Index of the port city bourse rose 14 points at 10:30am.

After first hour of trading, DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, stood at 5,469 points, advancing 7.62 per cent while the Selective Category Index of port city bourse CSE rose 10 points when the report was filed at 11:00am.

DSEX, the benchmark index of the DSE, went up by 7.62 points or 0.14 per cent to stand at 5,469 points, when the report was filed at 10:30am.

DS30 index, comprising blue chips, rose 0.82 points or 0.04 per cent to stand at 2032 points. Shariah Index (DSES) advanced 0.64 points or 0.05 per cent to reach 1261 points at 11:00am.

Turnover, a crucial indicator of the market, stood at Tk 738 million on the DSE, when the report was filed at 11:00am.

Recently listed Nurani Dyeing topped the turnover chart with shares worth Tk 55 million changing hands till then, closely followed by Tosrifa Industries Tk 47 million, Orion Pharma Tk 43 million, Argon Denims Tk 42 million and Paramount Textile Tk 35 million.

Of the issues traded till then, 146 advanced, 58 declined and 64 issues remained unchanged till 11:00am.

The port city bourse, the CSE, also saw a positive trend till then with its Selective Category Index – CSCX – gaining 10 points to stand at 10,248 points, also at 11:00am.

Of the issues traded till then, 49 gained, 37 declined and 23 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk 25 million.
