Fire in Bhola burns down 20 shops

A fire in the southern island district of Bhola has left several shops at a local market gutted.

The incident has been reported on Saturday from the Charfassion Upazila.

Local Fire Service said that the fire started from an electronics shop at the town's Sharifpara Bridge area and spread to nearby shops soon after, reports bdnews24.com.

"Two firefighting units from Charfassion and Lalmohan managed to put out the flames after two hours," said Charfassion Fire Service's Abdur Rashid.

He, however, could not say what caused the fire.

Police said that the fire damaged 20 shops in the area.

"As many as 20 businesses, including grocers, electronics, salon and hardware have been completely burnt," said Charfassion police OC Enamul Haque.
