JMB man gets five-year jail in Jessore
A court in Jessore on Thursday sentenced a member of banned Islamist militant outfit Jama'atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB) to five years imprisonment in a case filed over the incident of countrywide near simultaneous bomb blasts on August 17, 2005.

The convict is Mozzafar Hossain Liton, son of Intaz Ali, a resident of Sarutia village of Keshabpur upazila in the district, reports UNB.

The court also fined him Tk 10,000, in default, to suffer six months more rigorous imprisonment.

According to prosecution, the convict, Mozzafar Hossain, was involved with 2005 simultaneous bomb blasts and police arrested him from his house the same year.

Later, Samsul Haque, officer-in-charge of Keshabpur Police Station, filed a case, seeking to bring sedition charge against Mozzafar.

On September 28, 2006, the then Sub-inspector of the police station and also Investigative Officer of the case Abdul Mannan submitted a charge sheet against him to the court.

After examining all the documents and witnesses, judge of Jessore Special Sessions Judge Court Nitai Chandra Saha handed down the verdict.
