FDI inward stock reaches $14.53b

Total inward stock of the Foreign Direct Investment (FDI) in Bangladesh stood at $14.53 million at the end of 2016, according to the central bank statistics.

The volume of stock was $12.91 billion at the end of December, 2015. 

According to the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), stocks of FDI are presented at book value or historical cost, reflecting prices at the time when the investment was made. 

“For a large number of economies, FDI stocks are estimated by either cumulating FDI flows over a period of time or adding flows to an FDI stock that has been obtained for a particular year from national official sources or the IMF data series on assets and liabilities of direct investment,” it mentioned.

Of the total stock in last year, $10.73 billion was equity capital, $1.64 billion was reinvested earnings and $2.16 billion was intra company loans.
